Description
“MANTRA” is the first single of the next new album of The Bluebeaters (out March, 21st 2025), that is released – after digital release, on June 21st through Universal Music Italia – on vinyl 7inch on August 1st. On the B Side “MYSTERIOUS DUB” by EZRA. It is distributed by Caribb Roots Records (the group’s new label on its 4th episode) through www.caribbroots.it and www.thebluebeaters.it and here on bandcamp.
The single contains within itself the seed of this new diversity or sound update. From the 60s, we jump to the 80s and beyond, with more or less hidden references to hits of the moment and cities like Kingston and London in the forefront.
After reaching 30 years of career, it’s time to turn the page and change skins. The sound of the origins of The Bluebeaters’ Jamaican Ska is evolving. After the leadership revolution with the change from Giuliano Palma to Pat Cosmo (Patrick Benifei), already with the single TOXIC in 2015, you can hear more keyboards, while with the album Shock! (2020), the band wrote original songs in Italian without a single cover to which he had accustomed his audience.
Now, after two years of concerts and studio work post pandemic time and the release in April of an album/compilation “eXtra traX” (Caribb Roots Rec/Universal Music Italia for RECORD STORE DAY 2024), songs with decidedly new and more modern sounds is taking shape, also thanks to the fact that they have collaborated, alongside the official studio albums, over nearly ten years with the new lineup, with many different artists, each bringing out a different side of the band for as many songs as have been made. From the more classic original ska to Ragga Lover or Rocksteady to toy instruments…
It’s a dawning of a new era for The Bluebeaters still maintaining the same roots of Jamaican music that have grown over 30 years.
