Description
‘Synthesiser music for nightclubs’. That’s all that the press release for DMX Krew’s new EP Computor Heart has to say on the matter. It’s not wrong, you know – the quartet of tunes here are primo machine-made tools from Ed DMX. Computor Heart kicks off with its title track, a hugely pleasing bit of squelch-funk. Up next is the hyperspeed ‘Inigos Groove’, all Drexciyan drums and cyberpunk bass. ‘Upgrade Path’ is a real mish-mash, conflating the sound of ‘Computor Heart’ and ‘Inigos Groove’ before adding some bassline wubs and a grime lead line. Closing cut ‘Infinity Drive’ keeps the low-slung bass while throwing in a percussion-heavy shuffle and Detroit-inspired chords.
